Welcome to C.O.R.K. and running in Central Oregon!
A runner for 23 years, I got my start on the trails and roads of Rowan County in Eastern Kentucky. What began as a way to eek out some time with the cute triathlete I was dating turned into this 23-year (and counting) love affair with dirt and asphalt. A solid back of the packer, with flashes of mid-packer glory,
I run because I love to.
The bottomless gift, running has given me a healthy body, fabulous friends and countless memories of unforgettable miles, from the trails of Pikes Peak to the Great Wall of China. Taking the baton pass from Dan “uniwheel” Harshberger as C.O.R.K.'s new prez, my plan for 2010, with the active assistance of your CORK BOARD of Directors and YOU, is to help develop, or rekindle, your own dirt/asphalt love affair. We want to put some fun into your run1
C.O.R.K. traditions such as Saturday runs, Heaven Can Wait, Youth Run Programs, student scholarships, local races and of course our Winter Hot Chocolate Run Socials will be strong as ever. Your 2010 CORKBOARD is also adding some NEW bling: Full Moon Night Runs, Potlucks, monthly special events, TEAM participation in races, community service projects, CORK on facebook…
Our biggest goal is to promote and meet our community's running needs.
So don't be shy, let us know what you want! And come on out!
